Social Work and Medical Student Interns at The Bridge

Posted on 9/30/2010 by The Bridge

Ten masters level social work students have begun their field placement year at The Bridge. The students will be working in a variety of programs in which they will develop their skills as emerging professional social workers. The Bridge has longstanding field placement arrangements with all of the City's social work schools: Columbia, Fordham, NYU, Hunter, Yeshiva, Lehman and Touro.

Each student is assigned to a Bridge field instructor who mentors and supervises the student throughout of the academic year. Students work in clinical programs, housing and in some of our specialty programs, including Assertive Community Treatment and Intensive Case Management. We recently began providing field rotations to third-year medical students from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. Students work alongside Bridge psychiatrists, learning about psychiatric diagnosis, ongoing evaluation, and medication prescription and management.
