Ticket to Work Program

Posted on 2/25/2011 by The Bridge

The Social Security Administration has now officially deemed The Bridge an Employment Network for the Ticket to Work Program. The Ticket to Work Program (TTW) is an employment program for people with mental illness and disabilities who are interested in going to work. Under the Ticket Program, the Social Security Administration provides disability beneficiaries with a “Ticket” they can use to obtain the services and jobs they need from organizations called Employment Networks (EN), of which The Bridge is now one.

The goal of the Ticket to Work Program is to increase opportunities and choices for Social Security disability beneficiaries to obtain employment, vocational rehabilitation (VR), and other support services from public and private providers, employers, and other organizations. The program is flexible and individualized so that different individuals can benefit from it in different ways. Current Bridge clients will be asked to bring their "Tickets" or requests to the
Vocational Services office for enrollment. As members of TTW, clients will have support not only in their job search process, but once they are employed and especially in navigating their Social Security benefits. As an EN, we are now hoping to be able to increase our funding resources, which in turn will mean that we can offer greater vocational services to our clients.
